Donations are essential to help us maintain the Rail Trail all year round. WE NOW ACCEPT INTERAC E-TRANSFERS AS WELL AS PAYPAL.
Wondering where your donations go?
In the winter we groom and trackset the 50km long Rail Trail. This includes the expenses of gas and machine repair, plowing multiple parking lots, and many other tasks. This can add up to anywhere from $3 – $6000 a winter.
In the summer, we regularily mow and brush the Trail. We also have to deal with dangerous and hazardous tree removal. As well we regularly check culverts (and unplug as necessary), fill sink holes and assess trail conditions. We paint, repair and maintain multiple benches, picnic tables, kiosks, outhouses and much more. It’s an on-going challenge and can cost $10 – $15000 a year. While we do get some grant support for specific trail projects, it is still primarily the efforts of volunteers that get the work done.
Many of these expenses are paid for from your donations, but we have a hard time keeping up. If you enjoy your experience on the Slocan Valley Rail Trail, then please help us by making a donation to show your support. You can do it anytime of the year!
Donations to the Slocan Valley Rail Trail Society can be made online with a credit card or PayPal account, by mail, or at the donations box located at each trailhead.
We are now also accepting donations via Interace-Transfers allowing you to use your financial institution. We have set things up to keep it simple, with no security question being needed. The advantage of using an Interac e-Transfer is there are NO SERVICE FEES charged at our end, so what you donate, goes directly to us. You can send your donation to donate@slocanvalleyrailtrail.ca. from within your financial institution’s Interac e-Transfer program. Thanks for your support!
